ABOUT GABRIELLE
Gabrielle S. Evans-Mitchell, PhD, MPH, CHES (she/her), is a sexuality researcher and educator from North Carolina and a proud citizen of the Haliwa-Saponi Tribe. Gabrielle has taught comprehensive sexuality education since 2016, facilitating programs for faith-based organizations, providers, and Native American adolescents. Gabrielle obtained a Ph.D. in Health Promotion and Behavioral Sciences from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Her research focuses on improving the sexual health and well-being of Indigenous adolescent and young adult women through culturally relevant and trauma-informed practices. As a first-generation Indigenous scholar from a rural tribal community, she believes in the importance of having access to information in a language that is understandable to the communities she serves. As a result, she values translational science and use social media platforms and community workshops to disseminate research findings.
